FingerPrint Quick Start
-----------------------
This document describes how to get FingerPrint installed in the
least amount of time.
For greatest protection, you should turn on all your peripherals
(modems, printers, etc.) that are connected to the computer
before you boot.
After booting your machine, run FingerPrint by typing FNGRPRNT at
the DOS prompt and pressing Enter. If this is the first time
you've ever run FingerPrint, it will create an initial
FingerPrint. You will then get the Main Menu. Your options are:
FngrPrnt -- Create a FingerPrint based on the current
configuration. Use this option whenever you have
changed the configuration, and therefore need to change
the FingerPrint.
Owner -- Input Ownership information. This is the
information (Name, Address, etc.) that will be shown by
IDCHECK if the configuration is ever changed.
Save -- Saves the current FingerPrint to the disk.
Help -- Displays help text for FngrPrnt.
Quit -- Returns to DOS.
After running FngrPrnt, you will not have to run it again until
you change the system's configuration (i.e., added or removed a
peripheral) or you need to change the Ownership information.
You now must edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT to include IDCHECK. This
should be placed near the end of the batch file, after TSRs and
other settings have been entered. Now IDCHECK will test the
configuration every time you start the machine!
To get a feel for what IDCHECK will do, turn off one of your
peripherals and run IDCHECK.
